The Sports school was founded in 1986. At present it has 122 apprentices. In the course of 20 years the school has trained 304 sportsmen. One of the sportsmen of the school, Arsen Haroutyunyan, has taken part in the Olympic games of Lillehammer, Nagano and Salt-Lake City; and another apprentice of the school, Abraham Sarkakhyan, is going to participate in the 20th Winter Olympic Games in Turin.

The students of the school have repeatedly become State champions and Cup winners, as well as have continually taken part in international-level competitions.
